Version 3.0 of Layar hit the Android marketplace on December 1st, it's the biggest leap forward yet for our favourite augmented reality browser.
AugmentReality were invited to beta test the application in October and we developed one of the handful of Layars ready for launch day: The AR Beatles Tour.
Here's a run-down on some of the new features:
We are pleased to announce that we have completed development of 3 Layars for our client European Directories. In the UK and USA we know them as Yellow Pages however in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland they are known as Zlatestranky.cz, Zlatestraky.sk and pkt.pl respectively. Each layar is linked into their directory service database containing millions of points of interest so the end-user can search for absolutely anything. As well as branding and functionality, of partular importance to this client was the speed of delivery - and we achieved everything they asked within the tight deadlines. The launch will be taking place very soon, making these the first Layars dedicated to their respective territories.
Today we launched a new Layar for the amazing new Dubai Metro system. The system which will be the largest automated metro system in the world was opened this year with 10 of the 29 proposed stations active. Each POI contains information about the station status (open or under development), type and zone.
